E.U. REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE / CERTIFICADO DE CIUDADANO DE LA UNIÓN

All citizens of the European Union, or of another State party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area or Switzerland, who want to stay or establish your residence in Spain for a period of more than 3 months, must apply for the E.U. Registration Certificate.

This certificate is nothing more than the document that identifies the EU citizen in Spain. But it also allows them to live and work in the country legally, without limitations or restrictions.

For the application of this Residence Card the citizen of the European Union or another State part of the European Economic Area or Switzerland, must meet one of the following conditions:

  1. Be an employed person in Spain, or.
  2. Be self-employed in Spain, or.
  3. Have sufficient financial resources for themselves and their family members not to become a burden on the social assistance system of Spain during their period of residence.
  4. Be a student and be enrolled in a public or private centre recognised or financed by the educational administration for studies or vocational training.

The E.U. Registration Certificate shall be issued immediately, subject to verification of the relevant requirements. The Certificate will state the name, nationality and address of the registered person, their NIE and the date of registration.

This E.U. Registration Certificate will be issued once and will not expire, although it is necessary to notify the change of data or request the issuance of another certificate in case of loss or deterioration of the certificate. However, if it is established that they have been legally resident in Spain for a continuous period of five years, they will apply for permanent residence.

Todos los ciudadanos de la Unión Europea, o de otro Estado parte en el Acuerdo sobre el Espacio Económico Europeo o Suiza, que quieran permanecer o fijar su residencia en España por un periodo superior a 3 meses, deberán solicitar el Certificado de Registro de la U.E.

Este certificado no es más que el documento que identifica al ciudadano comunitario en España. Pero también les permite vivir y trabajar legalmente en el país, sin limitaciones ni restricciones.

Para la solicitud de esta Tarjeta de Residencia el ciudadano de la Unión Europea o de otro Estado parte del Espacio Económico Europeo o Suiza, debe cumplir alguna de las siguientes condiciones:

  • Ser trabajador por cuenta ajena en España, o,
  • Ser trabajador por cuenta propia en España, o,
  • Disponer, para sí y para los miembros de su familia, de recursos económicos suficientes para no convertirse en una carga para el sistema de asistencia social de España durante su período de residencia.
  • Ser estudiante y estar matriculado en un centro público o privado reconocido o financiado por la Administración educativa para cursar estudios o formación profesional.

El Certificado de Registro en la U.E. se expedirá de forma inmediata, previa comprobación de los requisitos exigidos. En el Certificado constará el nombre, nacionalidad y domicilio de la persona inscrita, su NIE y la fecha de inscripción.

Este Certificado de Registro de la U.E. se expedirá una sola vez y no caducará, si bien es necesario notificar el cambio de datos o solicitar la expedición de otro certificado en caso de pérdida o deterioro del mismo. No obstante, si se comprueba que se ha residido legalmente en España durante un periodo continuado de cinco años, se solicitará la residencia permanente.
